The Rally Sport replaced the Sport Coupe, and was now available withe the L03 V-8.
Headlamp pockets were no longer painted black on the RS, as well
rear shoulder belts, and the Corvete PASS-Key Ignition lock system was
on all Camaro's.
As for the IROC, the P245/50ZR-16 were replaced with new P245/50VR-16 tires.
The TPI motors got "better" Multec fuel injectors, which meant more performance,
and new calibration eliminated the cold start injector. As well the base
15 inch IROC wheels were restyled to match the appearance of there 16 inch sibling,
the four wheel disc optional rear brakes were increased to 11.65 inch rotors (from 10.5 inch),
which allowed for better stopping and a more reliable parking brake.
The G92 option upped the anti a bit with its performance exhaust (Dual Catalytic converters) which added
an extra 10 ponies. But to get this option you had to have the following:
-5.7L TPT motor, or 5.0L TPI with a 5 speed.
-16 inch wheels
-Limited slip differential
-rear disc
-and P245/50ZR-16 Goodyaer Gatorbcak tirresM
But this option was no longer available on the IROC-Z convertible or and IROC with and Automatic.
1LE performance package option (option level 0 IROC-Z) became more
well-known. 1LE package was obtained by ordering the following:
- Level 1 IROC-Z with 5.0 TPI engine with 5 speed or 5.7 TPI engine
- Optional axle ratio (G92) (305/3.45, 3350/3.27) and its required options.
- Air conditioning delete (standard heater)
Then the 1LE performance package was installed consisting of:
- Fog lamp delete
- Aluminum drive shaft
- Performance exhaust system (dual catalytic converters)
- Special deflected disc shocks
- Aluminum spare wheel with smaller spare tire
- Larger (11.86 inch) front rotors with airlock or PBR Australian
built HD front dual piston aluminum calipers
- Special swinging fuel pickup in gas taank and special 18 gallon
baffled fuel tank for fuel pickup down to .5 gallon reserve to
prevent fuel starvation in hard cornering.
- Some came with special 16x8 light alloy mesh wheels. (XWL)
