1988 CAMARO

1988 is the first time in Camaro History that there were no Carburated Camaro's.
The Z-28 Model was dropped and replaced y thee IROC-Z. The 16 inch wheels were restyled, and now went from standard to an option. The Standard wheel on the IROC-Z was no the old 15x7 inch 5 spoke Z-28 wheels (these wheels were also now standard on the SC) Now the 5 spoke wheels was painted completely Gold or silver rather than just accented whit these colors. The IROC-Z Decals were moved to the back of the doors. The pin striping was changed to black on the top, with body color in between, rather than black on the bottom.

The SC took over the Z-28 Look, except the badges read CAMARO rather than
Z-28. Body colored head lamps and matching gold and silver caps for the rims. The Two tone lower body stripe rather than the 4 color Z-28 body stripes and came withe a rear wing rather than a Spoiler.

The long lived carbureted 305(5.0L) was finally replaced byt the throttle body injection 305 (5.0L). And all Tune port motors were bumped up 5 hp due to higher lift/longer duration Cam profiles, additional valve seat angle, exhaust port/ exhaust manifold changes.

-G92 (performance axle ratio) still available on IROC-Z convertible in 1988. G92 code was now available on the 350 (B2L) IROC-Z and now had to be specified to get 3.27 rear end (was standard in 1987) as a 2.77 rear was now standard on the 5.7 TPI. J65 rear disc brakes, G80 limited slip differential, and KC4 engine oil cooler were still required on all 5.7 and G92 cars.
