1984 CAMARO

Well 1984 is one of those years I guess, nothing really big came out of it, GM seemed to be selling the expected amount of cars, so they didn't really improve it all that much on looks or performance, it seemed things were dropped, or replaced with better that year, but the big things went into the interior.

The Berlinetta recieved an all digital instrument panal. It consisted of a Bargraph tach, digital speedometer, and stalk mounted Cassette/radio. On the steering wheel there were side mounted controls, cruise control was also in the steering wheel, and the overhead console.

There was also a death that year, the 5.0L Cross Fire Injection V-8 was dropped, and the 3 speed automatic was replaced by the 700R4 being standard, as well all Z-28 hoods were now made out of steel.

On a lighter note, the 5.0 High output engine was now available with the 4 speed auto. As well all clutches were switched to hydraulic on the manual transmission cars.

The 1984 Camaro had been recognized. Road & Track selects the 84 Camaro as 1 of 12 best cars in the world along with the Firebird. It won Best Sports GT category in the $11,000 to $14,000 range. Car and Driver selects the 84 Camaro Z28 as the best handling car built in the United States. Go Camaro!
